Rising Marquette High senior Tina Wang earned a gold medal representing Team USA in the 3rd European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), held in Lund, Sweden, from July 15-21.
EGOI is an international competition for young women interested in computer science. This year, 189 students representing 52 countries joined the competition. Team USA achieved its best performance and Tina placed 13th overall in the competition. She was selected to represent the USA after a rigorous screening process that included national exams and a weeklong training camp.
Tina is the first Rockwood School District student to win a gold medal in the international competition in informatics.
