Central Print in historic old North St. Louis is a combination printing press, art studio and museum. Director Marie Oberkirsch is a passionate preservationist of antique letterpress machines. In letterpress printing, type is set by hand, a tactile technique that is an antidote to the digital age. Central Print provides to artists studio space and access to old school printing presses. Classes and workshops for students and young people keep the art of movable type alive.
